Just a reminder that the NEISD Council of PTAs, in partnership with the League of Women Voters and MOVE San Antonio, will be holding a Texas District 121 Candidates Forum tonight, Tuesday February 13th, from 6-8 pm at the MacArthur High School Auditorium. Speaker Joe Straus is vacating district 121. This is a great way for you to be part of the democratic process and to learn more about the candidates in our area. The primary election is Tuesday, March 6th. Early voting starts February 29th and ends March 2nd. Any registered voter can vote early in person. Primaries matter!
Governing documents such as By-Laws, Standing Rules and Policies, create the framework that allows PTAs to protect the rights of the its members while still providing new and exciting opportunities for our students, educators and families.
This past summer, Texas PTA changed a policy that now requires all local PTAs to update or amend their By-Laws and Standing Rules (if applicable) at least once every three years (as opposed to every 5 years) in order to maintain "Good Standing" with Texas PTA. MacArthur High School PTSA's governing documents were therefore required to be reviewed.
Over a period of 2 months, a committee of 5 met, reviewed and provided suggested updates to the By-Law and Standing Rules documents. The proposed updates were reviewed by the PTSA Executive Board and are now being presented to our membership. Please take some time to review the proposed updates by clinking on the links below.
As a membership, we will be voting to accept the changes to our By-Laws and Standing Rules at our next General Meeting which will be held on Tuesday, February 9th at 10am in the MacArthur Teacher's Lounge. If you have any questions, feel free to contact our Committee Chair and Parliamentarian, Belle Watson (Belletroop230@yahoo.com).

Project Graduation aims to give Seniors a safe, drug free, and alcohol free celebration and to reduce the number of drug and alcohol related accidents on Graduation Night. Students choosing to attend the event have made a conscious decision to celebrate their graduation night drug and alcohol free.
Unfortunately, currently no one has come forward expressing interest in leading an event this year following graduation. If you have a current senior this year, please take a moment to let us know your thoughts and plans regarding the event. Regardless of your plans, we respectfully ask that all parents of seniors take a moment to respond to the attached questionnaire so we know what intentions are of the current senior class. Forms are due by November 1st.
A Google Forms link has been provided or you can print out the PDF form attached.
